Dressage At Devon Results

With thirteen championship ribbons, consistent winners in the performance classes, and Reserve Grand Champion of the Breed Show, Dressage at Devon proved once again to be as exciting as always for Hilltop Farm, clients, and offspring.

One of the young stars of the competition was undoubtedly Hilltop's Chiquita HTF (Contucci - Cordoba), who started Tuesday morning with a win in the Fillies of 2008 class and continued on to win the inaugural foal championship, took 2nd in the GAIG Filly Qualifier, and claimed the GAIG Filly Championship with a score of over 85%. One of the Dressage at Devon judges, William Solyntjes, an "S" dressage judge and "r" sport horse breeding judge, states, "She is one who could hold her own against the more mature horses. She has really, really good conformation, natural suppleness in her back, a well set neck and lots of confidence." Her dam, Hilltop Cha Cha (Cordoba - Weltmeyer), not letting her youngster outdo her, proceeded to take 2nd in her Four Yr/old and Older Broodmare class with a score of 84%, 2nd in the Mare GAIG Qualifier, GAIG Champion Mare, Reserve Champion Mature Horse, and Reserve Grand Champion of Devon.

Rhodora HTF (Royal Prince - Contucci) also proved to be a highlight of the competition, earning 2nd in her Yearling Fillies class with a score of 82.6%, winning her GAIG qualifier, securing the Young Horse Championship title, and taking Reserve Champion to Chiquita in the Fillies GAIG championship. Also owned by Hilltop Farm, Conturri (Contucci - Riverman) won the Four Year-Old Maiden Mare class with a score of 82.5% and proceeded to win her Hanoverian breed class on Thursday.

Chiquita HTF, Rhodora HTF, and Conturri received the Born in the USA awards for their respective age groups, with Chiquita taking Reserve overall. Additionally, Rhodora and Conturri won the Mid-Atlantic Hanoverian Breeder's Club awards for Young and Mature Horse divisions respectively.

Other fillies that presented stellar performances were Kim Brown's Calias (Contucci - Andros) who took 3rd in her Fillies of 2008 class with a score of 82% as well as 2nd in her Hanoverian class. Royal Highness (Royal Prince - Grusus), owned by Kaye Triplett, took 4th in the Yearling Fillies with a score of 82%. Pharaoh's Gold (Pharaoh - Jim's Gem), owned by Paula Martian, took 6th in the Yearling Fillies class as well as her ISR/Oldenburg class with her top score being 78.3%. Crossen Arabian's London Belle (Londonderry - Davignon) took 8th in her age group and 6th in her Hanoverian breed class. Kris Schuler's Panache EMF (Pablo - Gold Luck), Martina Thiel-Poblotzki's Cordialli (Contucci - Akteur), and Crossen Arabians' Rosalinde (Royal Prince - Davignon) all gave solid performances in their age group classes, and Panache EMF placed 7th in her Hanoverian class.

In the Two Year-Old division, Richard Ellis' filly Anne Lynn (Contucci - Zauberklang) competed with a score of 77.7% as well as Royal Angel (Royal Prince - Grisus) owned by Kaye Triplett. Risacci (Riverman - Parabol), owned by Cindy Lindsay, performed in the Three Year-Old division and took 2nd in her ISR/Oldenburg class. Jeanne Krug's filly Carrera GH (Contucci - Maronjo) took 4th in the Three Year-Olds, 3rd in Suitable to Become a Dressage Horse, and 4th in her Materiale class while another one of Jeanne's fillies, Capella GH (Contucci - Maronjo) took 2nd in the Suitable to Become a Dressage Horse 4 Year-Old division, 2nd in the Four and Five Year-Old Mare Materiale, and 6th in the Four Year-Old Maiden Mares. Catarina GH (Contucci - Santano), also owned by Jeanne Krug, performed well in the Four Year-Old Maiden Mares.

On Wednesday, James Bond's Helene (Hohenstein - Weltruhm) won the Four Year-Old Mares Under Saddle, and Balmoral (Bugatti - Ima Hell Raiser), owned by Elizabeth Callahan, also competing in the undersaddle class, took 5th in the class as well as her ISR/Oldenburg class. Linda Santomena's mare BW-Corabelle (Contucci - A Jungle Prince) also competed in the Four Year-Old Mares Under Saddle and took 4th in her ISR/Oldenburg class. In addition, Balmoral and Helene performed in the Four and Five Year-Old Mare Materiale, where Balmoral took 5th while Helene took 7th. Kris Schuler's mare Diotima took 3rd in her Four Year-Old and Older Broodmare class with a score of 80.7%

For the colts, Linda Santomena's BW Raphael (Royal Prince - A Jungle Prince), Cira Giunti's Riley's Reason (Royal Appearance - Bugatti Hilltop), and Kris Schuler's Reign Dancer (Royal Prince - Donnersclag) represented the Colts of 2008. Boccacio IOF (Bugatti Hilltop - Rubinstein I), owned by Marchella Richardson took 5th in his Yearling Colts and Geldings class with a score of 76.3%. Both BW Raphael and Bocaccio went on to perform in the GIAG Colt Championship, with Bocaccio placing 4th while BW Raphael took 2nd in his ISR-Oldenburg class on Thursday. Other colts in the Yearling Colt class were Kathleen Jackson's Cartier HK (Contucci - Del Piero), Hilltop's Ripley (Royal Prince - Riverman) who also took 4th in his Hanoverian breed class, Summit Sporthorses' Pogo (FS Pour l'Amour - Night Star I) who took 6th in his Westphalin class, and Equi Sport LLC's Commando ES (Comic Hilltop FRH - Liostro). For the Two Year-Old Colts, Hilltop presented Constantine HTF (Contucci - Riverman) who won his Hanoverian class. Also presented in the Two Year-Old class was Kathleen Jackson's Sebastian (Scimitar - Shining So Bright), and Equi Sport's B. ES. Alkatraz (Jewels Titanium - Indoctpo) who took 6th in his American Warmblood Society breed class. In the Three Year-Old class, Sir Donald (Scimitar - Petagon), owned by Summit Sporthorses, was presented and placed 7th in the ISR/Oldenburg class.

Kathleen Jackon's Sergio (Scimitar - Shining So Bright) and Suellen Myers' Corvallis (Contucci - Grosso Z) competed in the Suitable to Become a Dressage Horse and Four and Five Year-Old Stallion and Gelding Materiale with Sergio coming in 4th in the Suitable to Become a Dressage Horse. Corvallis also took 2nd in his ISR/Oldenburg class. Frances Selby's Rapidan (Riverman - Caretino), also competed in the Suitable to Become a Dressage Horse Four Year-Old Class and in the Four Year-Old Stallion division on Wednesday, taking 4th place as well as capturing Reserve Champion in the GIAG Stallion Championship and taking 3rd in his Holsteiner class. Christine Reber's Capricious (Contucci - Grand Loewe) took 4th in his Suitable to Become a Dressage Horse for the Six Year-Old division.

The Devon group classes were especially exciting as Hilltop took first in the Breeder's group with an incredible 87.2% and also won the Produce of Dam class with Rivita's offspring. Offspring from Royal Prince and Contucci were also presented for the Get of Sire class and Kaye Triplett and Linda Santomenna also presented in the Breeders' group.

Thursday was the start of the performance classes, with Selten HW (Sandro Hit -Hohentein) and Michael Bragdell, still on their victory streak from Young Horse Nationals, commandingly winning the USEF 4 Year-Old Test on Thursday and Friday with the consistent score of 81%. Tami Glover and Capella GH also gave solid performances both days in the Four Year-Old test.

In the FEI Dressage Test for Six Year-Olds, Cabana Boy (Contucci - Bordeaux) and Chris Hickey continued their success to win with the top score of 83% on both Thursday and Friday. Both Cabana Boy and Selten HW won the North American Breeders Futurity for their respective age groups. Froelich (Festrausch - Landadel), owned by Dorie Forte, took 2nd both days in the Six Year-Old Tests. Chris also showed Bugatti Hilltop (Bergamon - Rubinstein I) at Prix St. Georges and took 2nd to Courtney King-Dye with a score of 68.5% and scored 66.4% in his Intermediare I test. Ilona English's pony stallion, Popeye (FS Pour l'Amour - Night Star I) also received the honor of being invited to perform a demonstration ride throughout the weekend, thus wrapping up a very successful weekend for Hilltop Farm.
